Timezone changes

ltmon's picture

It’s currently daylight savings (GMT+11) in Victoria.

I’m not sure if any other states have this time at the moment, but can someone let me know if we are going to practice at 8pm or 9pm tonight (depending on where you live).

Custom map fun tonight

ltmon's picture

At least a few MaD players have the new custom map installed, so it’s game on tonight at 8pm. We’ll start on the IPX server with the custom map and move to a booked GA server I have reserved if there’s any issues.

So:

Make sure you have this map downloaded and installed: http://splashdamage.com/node/312

Fatal Race! More DOS game retro goodness

Fatal Racing is one of my old favourite DOS games. Below the break are the instructions for setting it up to work, with IPX network emulation to play 16 player (wow! 16 players in a DOS game!) multiplayer races.

Warmup for Sunday night

ltmon's picture

I was hoping to try and contact someone from DI, ADA, tW or whoever to get a warmup on Valley before the match on Sunday night. We haven’t played Valley in a long while, and our strategies are going to need a workover.

If you see a clan online that might be able to do this please try and see if they’re able to scrim at 7:30pm or 8pm (or even earlier if it suits) tomorrow night.

Promod foobar (read before practice please)

UPDATE

Promod 0.6a is now on the servers, thanks Pinge.
There is still no match config on the servers, so I will book one now and ask Pinge to manually config it for us tonight.

So again: For practice tonight have 0.6a installed please.

END UPDATE

Just so everyone knows what’s going on for practice tomorrow (Tuesday 5/8), here’s what is going on with the new version of etqwpro.

1. Promod 0.6 was released
2. GA gameops got it installed, but without a match config set up
3. Promod 0.6a was released
4. Everyone downloaded 0.6a and wondered why they couldn’t connect.

Currently 0.6 is still on the servers, and you have to have this installed. You can’t (as far as I can tell) reliably have 0.6 and 0.6a both installed, but you can keep 0.55 (old version) and you probably should in order to view older demos.

So, before tomorrow night, y’all should:

1. Download both 0.6 and 0.6a

Iron Grip:Warlord is a new game in development by Isotx games. The bsaic rundown:
– Not released yet, no release date announced
– Commercial game, at low cost
– Single player or co-op multiplayer versus AI
– Base defence style of play, where the players have to hold off increasingly large armies of AI controlled enemy for a period of time
– Turrets, vehicles, bases, walkers, air strikes, traps and more, all buildable and upgradeable by players
– Players gain upgrades with experience also, with multiple classes, weapons and abilities
– Enhanced Quake 3 engine based, so should work for us Linux junkies and playable at high frame rates and detail with lower spec machines

OK, so what makes this a game worth waiting for? The developer has hired ENTE and cyrri, two of the twisted brains behind World of Padman to develop this game with them!

Gear up for ET:QW Season 2

ltmon's picture

Season 2 starts this Thursday (that’s right… tomorrow!)

Read all about it (including server settings and restrictions) here: http://www.gamearena.com.au/forums/3323/thread.php/4704884

That is all.

Vote Quimby!

ltmon's picture

Dragon at GA has posted a poll for settings for next season of ET:QW, as the conversation surrounding it devolves into a nice flamefest. It’s not clear if this vote will be “definitive” but I think it’s just a way for the gameops to get a quick idea of how people in the ladder are thinking.

The polls involve:
– Restrict deployables or not
– Restrict radar or not
– Restrict heavy weapons or not
– Restrict bumblebee or not

You can find it here:

On the Rain-Slick Precipe of Darkness

A mini-review of the demo of the game hereby refered to as OTRSPOD.

OTRSPOD, a game developed by “Hothead Games“http://www.hotheadgames.com/ has as http://www.hotheadgames.com/it’s main drawcard the artwork, writing and characters from the folks at “Penny Arcade“http://penny-arcade.com. Also it is one of the lametably few games that run natively on Linux and Mac (hence my interest).
