So this years crash for Rigs of Rods was actually..heh.. An accident ;p
What happened was, I was testing out, yet again, the issues that I have with near extreme lag when a vehicle comes within too close a proximity to another. Something to do with the collision boxes I imagine, not sure at this stage, its a nagging issue, as it does stop you from being able to enjoy the full extent of what RoR has to offer.. its just, not the most fun, when your not able to dangle a skip loader in mid air with a crane because its too laggy.. But still, Rigs has continued to be developed, and just always gets that little big sweeter with each release!
Forget the graphics. All your system resources are being poured into the soft body physics of the vehicles. Deformable bodies, soft, flexible tyres. Driving in RoR is by far the most realistic experience I have found in a simulator or video game. Especially when you switch it over to full manual. You will be bunny hopping and stalling all over the place to begin with, and as a result, smacking every curb and calling for a run back to the garage for a wheel alignment.. Or, you could always call for Hashy and his big yellow truck you pick you up.. You know how that will probably turn out.. ;p
So as it happened, I was driving back from picking up my Lexus, the first time using that truck too, very nice with the tilt tray and winch!. Anyway, I was just about onto the final stretch of road back into town, when I had hit one of the numpad keys to move the camera around, and it got stuck somehow and kept turning around and around.. A few seconds later, BAM! I didn’t know what had happened at first, till I changed to external camera and found I had smacked the corner of the giant superfluous jump ramp near the intersection.. =p

Multiplayer Improvements!
The multiplayer support for Rigs has been in slow development too, but has really taken a few leaps since last time I used it.
They’ve implemented some of the collision detection.. You just, don’t wanna try crashing at too higher speeds or you will get reset back to starting conditions. Oh, and we can also finally get out of our vehicles and run around.. You know, for when you have a crash, and you car “should” be on fire, and you should be able to get out and run around like a maniac until the fire truck arrives =)
Would be really nice to give setting up our own test server a go sometime. =)
.
Very impressive crash Hashy… wish I could have seen it happen.
Sore head..
Just woke up.. Very sore..
Getting smacked in the back of the head with a Lexus will do that to ya.. =/
need to find a way to record demos in Rigs.. Who leaves a ramp there, honestly!
Try FRAPS

RTA DKT Test
So.. I just did another run on the Driver Knowledge Test on the RTA website (gotta get my L’s back in the next month or so).
The only question I failed that time was one in regards to intersections..
Umm, and no, it wasn’t the one about “What should you do when you approach an intersection with a giant jump ramp, and your drivers head has suddenly decided to go all Steady Eddy on you?”
;p
retired
I got this game after reading one of hashys reviews about it a few years ago.
Ive since managed to successfully load the nukes into the bomb bay, take off, fly around the island map, Drop the payload and land successfully the b29 in this game ( i think over all, the successfull run took about 90 minutes (the botched landings and loading the bombs took days of practice)
But having completed that, i decided to retire… rather then continually be frustrated by it!
it will be a fantastic game once finished, and look forward to playing it once it has been.
strongly recommend it to those whom have paitents or like to see cars with ragdoll esque physics
